History
Lancaster Green Spaces (LGS) was established in 1995 and registered as a charity, number 1046701. Our Objects are:
"The preservation, enhancement and maintenance of public areas and amenities in the City of Lancaster for the benefit of the public". The initial reason for our establishment was to campaign against the sale of a city centre open space to developers. While this particular campaign was unsuccessful, LGS trustees have taken an active part in speaking out for the value of public open spaces at consultations and directly to local authorities and other landowners. More recently, we have been working to support the many Friends groups and other greenspace groups throughout the Lancaster district. In 2018 we have delivered the Forest Friends project and are currently helping to create a new community orchard off Ashton Road in Lancaster. Our organisational policies
