In March 2015 we made a grant of £1000 towards the cost of two commercial size polytunnels for this community growing scheme.
Fairfield Association gained funding to construct a new tool store for their volunteers. We added to this, by enabling them to build the store with a 'green roof'. Highfield Recreation Ground is a large project that is managed by the Gregson Centre. It includes a tennis court and multi-use games area (MUGA). Our donation to the project enabled a tree survey to be completed, and additional planting to be done on site This edible garden was created through Transition City Lancaster and is now part of Incredible Edible Lancaster. Local residents maintain the garden and requested funding for a notice board, tool box and bench. In March 2014 we gave a further grant to improve the paths with new topping and laying weed barrier membrane. Council paths also had some maintenance. Hannah Ehlert of Timbertales delivered six half-day sessions of behalf of the Friends of Greaves Park group. The children and their parents learnt about wild life while having lots of fun! We paid for compost, timber, soil and publicity leaflets for a new raised bed at Marsh Community Centre. The response from participants and local residents was very positive. Children at the centre are taking ownership of the project. |
